Dear friends,

I recently fulfilled one of my marriage vows - "to obey." My loving husband persistently encouraged me to prioritize my health by undergoing a thorough checkup, which included essential tests like blood work and a Pap smear. Admittedly, I hesitated initially, fearing unfavorable health news. However, in my quest to find a family doctor or nurse practitioner, I ended up joining a private clinic offering comprehensive health assessments, encompassing blood work, Pap tests, mammograms, and specialist referrals.

Cutting to the chase, my blood work revealed a pre-diabetic condition. Though disheartened, I am grateful for the early warning, which now motivates me to improve my diet. It's time to bid farewell to my enduring and toxic relationship with sugar and carbs. The truth may be bitter, but it paves the way for positive change.

Enough dwelling on the somber notes; let's shift to the brighter side and explore how a newfound love for savory and spicy foods can benefit me. Embracing a diet of meats and fish while bidding farewell to processed carbs and sugar, limiting alcohol to occasional indulgences (three times a week or less), and savoring 100% dark chocolate hot chocolate made with whole milk from grass-fed cows—sounds like a delightful compromise. To complement this, I'll be incorporating more exercise into my routine, including dancing and swimming, activities I genuinely enjoy.

In essence, I feel like I've hit the jackpot! Armed with the opportunity to reverse my condition, I'm ready to embrace a long and healthy life with savory and spicy delights. I'm excited to share some delectable recipes from my upcoming cookbook, "Savoury Secrets." Your well wishes on this journey are greatly appreciated!
